Infrared Light Source Lamps

For Gas Detection Applications such as Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) and Methane (CH₄) (NDIR Sensor Lamps / IR Lamps)

In addition to lighting applications, we design, manufacture, and supply infrared light source lamps (IR lamps) for measurement and sensing purposes.

Infrared light source lamps are specifically engineered to efficiently emit infrared radiation. The emitted infrared light is widely used for gas detection and concentration measurement, supporting a broad range of applications in industrial, medical, and agricultural fields.

Our infrared light sources primarily cover the near- to mid-infrared wavelength range (approximately 1–5 μm) and are widely used in gas detection equipment for substances such as carbon dioxide (CO₂) and methane (CH₄), as well as in infrared spectroscopic analysis systems.

What Is an Infrared Light Source Lamp?

An infrared light source lamp (IR lamp) is a light source designed to efficiently emit infrared radiation and is used in applications that utilize wavelength ranges different from visible light.

Rather than general illumination, IR lamps are primarily used for analysis, measurement, and sensing in industrial and medical applications.

Many gases absorb infrared radiation at specific wavelengths. By integrating an infrared light source lamp into a sensing device and irradiating light matched to the gas absorption spectrum, it is possible to measure gas concentration and identify gas species with high accuracy.

While lasers are also classified as infrared light sources, laser light is limited to very narrow wavelength bands. In contrast, infrared light source lamps provide a relatively broad spectral output, offering greater flexibility for multi-gas analysis.
For this reason, IR lamps are widely used in applications that require high accuracy and long-term reliability, such as CO₂ concentration monitoring and medical diagnostic equipment.

Product Features

Our infrared light source lamps cover the near- to mid-infrared region (approximately 1,000–5,000 nm) and are particularly well suited for NDIR (Non-Dispersive Infrared) sensor applications.

Building on over 90 years of expertise in the manufacture of miniature and subminiature incandescent lamps, we have accumulated extensive experience supplying light sources for a wide range of analytical and sensing instruments.
As a result, our products are highly valued by customers not only in Japan but also across Europe, North America, and other global markets.
